The Zoo Restaurant is the fruit of the passion of Ms Lydia Forrest, President of AZLU and her collaborators, Ms Catherine Patris and Mr Jean-Pierre Kongolo, all three fierce advocates of animal welfare and the preservation of nature. In 2011, she created the Zoo Restaurant, in order to fill the income gap generated by the Zoological Garden and to offer an additional service to its visitors. Thus, all profits from the restaurant are donated to the Zoo, and constitute a financial contribution that participates in the renovation (completed in February 2018) and maintenance of this unique place. An excellent gastronomic option for those who wish to indulge in authentic Italian cuisine while supporting a beautiful project.
MENU :
Fresh produce and Italian and Congolese specialities! The menu is composed of real pizzas (the best in Lubumbashi according to us!) cooked in a wood fire oven, delicious grilled meats and fresh pasta (ravioli, homemade gnocchi and much more). Nothing too complicated or fanciful, just a menu that knows how to satisfy a clientele that appreciates good things. The Zoo Restaurant also boast an excellent selection of South African and Italian wines at competitive prices – we highly recommend their Chianti Villa Veroni 2015 !
SERVICE :
You will be welcomed as soon as you arrive by a remarkably professional and warm staff. The manager is attentive and the service very fast.

Imagine a bright and airy setting where the outside is subtly brought inside with a long terrace surrounded with the zoo’s centenary trees. The Zoo Restaurant has recently been equipped with a brand new smokehouse for your meats, a superb wood oven for the confection of its legendary pizzas as well as an outdoor screen to live with passion your football matches. Its pleasant garden and warm atmosphere comparable to an Italian trattoria make the Zoo Restaurant an unpretentious place that attracts a mixed clientele and is equally suitable for family meals, birthdays and evenings with friends.
THE BILL :
In our opinion, the best value for money in Lubumbashi. An important reference point in the usually very expensive and pretentious Lubumbashi food service industry.
LOCATION :
Guests can either sit in the lovely air-conditioned room, on the large terrace or in the pleasant garden near the children’s playground. Take advantage of this gastronomic stop to visit the Zoological Garden and its recently renovated Museums. The Restaurant du Zoo is the ideal place for a casual meeting or a family lunch… Between the excellent value for money of its specialties and its enchanting setting, we know why it is a favourite!
