It is not a return to her roots, as she has never really left the Congo, where she was born. Brenda Somji Kabeya passed through Kolwezi for a short stay, back to her native land.
Brenda was born in Lubumbashi and grew up in Kinshasa where she spent almost half her life. She studied interior design at the University of South Africa, in Cape Town for 2 years.
After graduation, she moved to Johannesburg, one of the world’s greenest cities, where she first worked for an interior design company founded by two exceptional women who shared their great experience with her.
After several years spent by their side, Brenda founded her own company: Bk.Designstudio. Brenda Kabeya is an interior designer, she is currently working as a freelancer and innovates on a daily basis, while traveling between South Africa, Mozambique and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Passing through Lubumbashi before flying back to South Africa, we had the pleasure of meeting her for a short interview.
