2012 – 2022, Hamaji Magazine has been taking you on a journey to the heart of the world, to the African continent, for almost 10 years.
I have always produced books and publications that talk about Africa. I have always been convinced, a little over 30 years ago in another life as a publisher, that the African continent was at the heart of everything.
After leaving Côte d’Ivoire, where we had a publishing house, and settling in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the largest French-speaking country in the world, I understood how free reading was the only way possible in this country of almost 100 million people. And how important it was for Africans to reclaim the image of their continent, of their countries.
It then seemed urgent to me to propose an editorial project that could both offer a new interpretation of travel, of the discovery or (re)discovery of familiar places, and of more distant African destinations. A project that could draw new bridges between all these regions of Africa that are still unaware of each other, in order to create this new impetus, new aspirations of journeys across the continent.
Hamaji Magazine became an evidence. This publication created for all of you, free of charge and offered to the greatest number of people thanks to its digitalisation, has inscribed itself in the long term, only thanks to the support of economic actors and companies who believe, as I do, that reading, like culture and the arts, are essential nourishments for the blossoming of people and their opening to the world.
As we prepare to celebrate the 10th anniversary of our publication, I would like to thank our advertisers who support our work and our commitment to provide reading on the African continent. Thank you to the readers of Hamaji Magazine who have expressed valuable encouragement and follow us on social networks.
Thank you.
#Together.
